Dressed Up® Prom Dress Coral Bells (Heuchera hybrid) showcases pewter leaves with charming, ruffled edges and charcoal veining. We have grown and admired its graceful foliage that holds color throughout the season. It generally reaches around 8 to 10 inches tall, yet fills out to 20 inches wide for a dramatic display in garden beds and containers. Many enthusiasts prefer this variety for its exceptionally frilled leaves that add intrigue to any shady spot.

Its tidy mound habit serves well in partial shade, and deer often ignore its textured leaves. This perennial, known for cold hardiness, rarely faces pest problems. It can lend sparkle to rock gardens, mixed borders, or mass plantings where leaf color is valued. Good drought tolerance and easy upkeep increase its appeal for both novice and experienced gardeners.

Dressed Up® Prom Dress Coral Bells Care

Prepare a site that receives partial sun to partial shade, and amend soil with compost to improve drainage. Keep the soil moderately moist but avoid waterlogging around the crowns. A balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring supports leaf color and overall vigor. Slightly acidic to neutral soil pH is acceptable, and consistent moisture allows leaves to maintain their lively hue.

Deadheading the occasional flower spike keeps the plant neat, although their blooms are typically not the main attraction. Prune or trim back damaged leaves if needed, and remove spent foliage in late fall to reduce overwintering pests. In regions with harsh winters, apply mulch around the base to guard the crowns. Container-grown plants appreciate regular watering and may be placed in a sheltered spot when temperatures drop below freezing.

Dressed Up® Prom Dress Coral Bells Spacing

Place individual plants 16 to 18 inches apart for borders or mass plantings. Position them about 14 inches apart if you want a denser display or plan more frequent dividing. For container plantings, choose a pot at least 12 inches wide to accommodate root development. Larger vessels help maintain consistent moisture and allow the leaves to unfurl to their fullest size, but too much wet soil around the roots can be damaging.
