Like its namesake’s exceptional novel, "Wuthering Heights", Emily Brontë Rose is a classic. Lush, 100-petal, baby-pink blooms slightly deepen to peachy pink at their centers. In addition to producing numerous flower clusters from the beginning of spring to the end of fall, this versatile rose, also known as Rosa Emily Bronte - grafted ('Ausearnshaw') and English Shrub Rose, tolerates a variety of garden conditions and is cold hardy in zones 5-11. Growing to a maximum height of 3 to 5 feet and spread of 3 to 4 feet, this David Austen shrub rose upgrades any landscape/container from “average” to “extraordinary” the very minute you plant it.

Developed in the United Kingdom, Emily Brontë Rose permeates the air with a tea rose perfume consisting of floral, fruity, and spicy notes that melt into a sweet, citrusy Old Rose fragrance. This redolent hybrid attracts pollinators including bees. A vigorous hybrid, this English rose is disease resistant and grows upright and bushy. To protect it from deer, plant deer-resistant plants such as foxglove, lavender, and foxglove alongside this attractive shrub.

Emily Brontë Rose Care

Get Emily Brontë Rose, a repeat bloomer, off to a good start. Plant it in a hole the same size as this rose’s root ball, or about 1.5 feet x 2 feet, in a spot that gets 5 or more hours of direct sun and has loamy, slightly acidic, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Amend the soil if needed with compost. Provide this cut flower with 1 to 2 inches of water weekly. Topdress the root zone with compost at the time of planting, and fertilize once or twice a month with a rose-specific fertilizer that has more phosphorus/potassium than nitrogen to encourage blooming.

Emily Brontë Rose requires moderate maintenance. Prune it in March/April. Trim dead, diseased, and/or damaged canes. Cut back the remaining canes by a third. Doing so will help maintain this vigorous grower’s shape, prevent disease, and encourage flowering.

Emily Brontë Rose Spacing

Grow Emily Brontë Rose in containers, borders, and hedges. Allow 4 feet of space when growing this shrub as a specimen and 3 feet of space when planting it in a group. In a thriller-spiller-filler combination, this classic rose is utilized as a thriller. Create lovely floral arrangements by combining these roses with alstroemeria, Baby’s Breath, eucalyptus, lavender, lilies, mini hydrangea, snapdragons, and sage.

Guide: How to Care for Your New Plant(s)

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!
