Feature
The sword-shaped foliage of the Energy Bromeliad grows in a rosette formation around a central cup. In nature, this tropical plant is epiphytic and latches onto trees, using the central cup to collect rainwater so it can survive. The leafy-good looks of the Energy Bromeliad make this pet-safe beauty a good choice for a space needing warmth and texture, but this plant also blooms for a dramatic and colorful statement. Flowers can last for months, providing lasting color.
Best Locations For Growing Energy Bromeliad
Bromeliad plants are adaptable, but they prefer increased humidity. The plant absorbs extra moisture in the air to help sustain itself and keep its foliage lush. This plant will thrive in a naturally damp area, but you can still enjoy this lovely plant in dry climates by using a humidifier or a pebble tray with water.
Energy Bromeliad Sunlight Requirements
Place the Energy Bromeliad plant in a spot that receives medium to low indirect light. Bromeliads receive filtered light in nature, so you want to replicate this at home. Feature the Energy Bromeliad in an area that does not receive direct sunlight, as this can damage the leaves.
Energy Bromeliad Care
Bromeliad plants are generally easy to grow and don’t require much care. The flower spike will continue to thrive for several months, and as soon as it shows signs of decline, it can be trimmed away as close to the base of the stem as possible. Bromeliads typically have offsets or new plants after blooming. Wait to separate the new plants or pups until they are at least a couple of inches tall.
Watering Energy Bromeliad
Water Energy Bromeliad plants by filling the cup at the center of the leaves halfway. Wait until the top couple of inches of soil are dry before watering. Avoid filling the cup to the top, as this may promote rot. Do not water the soil around the plant; only water using the cup. Allow the cup to dry out between watering and rinse the cup occasionally to remove dust and mineral buildup.
Feeding Energy Bromeliad
Feed the Energy Bromeliad during the spring and summer when the plant is actively growing. It isn’t necessary to feed plants that are not actively growing. Use a water-soluble fertilizer every couple of weeks to support new growth.
