Eggplant ‘Fairy Tale’ produces petite-sized eggplants with bright, colorful tender skin, and fit in the palm of your hand. These dainty eggplants have lovely purple and white streaking. They are deliciously tender and creamy and don’t require salting to remove bitterness. Because of their petite size and early harvest, they have tender delicate skin and are perfect for roasting, and cook very fast. You can harvest in 50 days after planting; best picked at 4” long for sweet, bitter-free, nearly seedless enjoyment. ‘Fairy Tale’ was the vegetable winner for the All-American Selections award in 2005.

Fairy Tale Eggplant Care

Plant Fairy Tale Eggplants once the weather warms and is past the last frost date. Ideal growing temperatures are between 70 - 85 degrees F. Eggplants require at least 6 or more hours of direct sunlight per day. Keeping the root area and soil warm is helpful to keep these warm-season veggies thriving. This can be accomplished by mulching around the roots or laying black garden plastic about 6 inches out from the base of the plant and securing it with garden staples. Provide adequate water to produce the best-tasting eggplants.

Growing Fairy Tale Eggplant

Eggplants love warm weather–their optimum growing temperature range is between 70 to 85 degrees F. They set less fruit if temperatures fall below 60 degrees. Fairy Tale Eggplant thrives in 6 hours or more of direct sunlight. It prefers fertile, well-draining soil, amended with plenty of organic matter such as garden compost, with a soil pH between 5.5 - 7.2. The fruit is ready to harvest and enjoy when they are 4 inches long and have bright shiny skins.

‘Fairy Tale’ grows to be 18-24 inches tall and wide. Its attractive soft-green foliage and captivating petite fruits make Fairy Tale Eggplant a natural choice for containers or where garden space is at a minimum. Water deeply, using a drip system if possible, particularly when grown in containers.

Watering Fairy Tale Eggplant

Fairy Tale Eggplant enjoys deep, consistent watering throughout the growing season. Avoid allowing the soil to get soggy. Water deeply, penetrating the roots during the summer growing season, and check often to be sure Fairy Tale Eggplant is receiving about 1-2 inches of water per week.

Feeding Fairy Tale Eggplant

Fairy Tale Eggplant will benefit from a light topdressing with well-rotted manure to ensure vital nutrients feed the roots. Apply the topdressing when plants bloom and set their first fruits. Early in the season before fruit sets, you can fertilize using a diluted, water-soluble, balanced fruit-and-vegetable fertilizer.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
