The rounded flower clusters of Giant Mixed Allium measure up to 5 inches across on slender stems reaching 24 to 36 inches tall. The blend combines light purple, deeper purple, and creamy white flower heads from late spring into early summer. Each bag contains 15 dormant 10–12 cm bulbs, giving gardeners enough material for several grouped plantings or a substantial container display. 

These perennial ornamental onions return in USDA zones 3-9 and often form broader clumps over time when planted in freely draining soil. The numerous small flowers attract bees and other pollinators during the transition from spring bulbs into early summer perennials and maintain interest even as the color fades. Place them in mixed borders where the tall flower heads can rise above neighboring plants, or grow them in raised beds and large patio containers. Deer and rabbits typically avoid alliums because of their onion-scented foliage and bulbs.

Plant Giant Mixed Allium Super Bag Bulbs in fall, ideally several weeks before the ground freezes, so the bulbs can establish roots and receive winter chilling before flowering the following spring. Full sun gives the strongest stems and fullest flower heads, although partial shade is tolerated. Plant in well-drained loamy or sandy soil with a pH around 6.0 to 7.5, and improve dense clay or use a raised bed if water tends to collect.

Set bulbs about 6 inches deep with the pointed end facing upward, then water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Once established, natural rainfall is often sufficient, and the soil should be kept comparatively dry once foliage begins to yellow and summer dormancy starts. Apply a balanced bulb fertilizer according to label directions at planting or as shoots emerge in spring. 

Allow the foliage to yellow and collapse naturally before removing it, since the leaves continue feeding the bulb after flowering ends. Cut flower stems while fresh for arrangements, harvest mature globes for drying, or leave selected seed heads standing until their appearance declines. Divide established groups only when they become crowded or flowering decreases. A 2-inch winter mulch layer can help moderate repeated freezing and thawing in colder regions.

Space bulbs about 6 to 10 inches apart in beds and borders, with groups of five or more creating a stronger concentration of flower heads. For container growing, use a pot at least 12 inches deep with generous drainage holes and a fast-draining potting mix. In zones 3-5, move containers into an unheated garage or similarly sheltered cold location for winter so the bulbs remain chilled while the root zone receives some protection from repeated deep freezes.

Irises share the preference for sunny, well-drained soil and flower around the same seasonal transition, giving the tall allium globes a contrasting flower form. Cotoneaster can provide a permanent woody background in larger beds, with its branching habit occupying a different level of the planting while the allium stems rise through open space in front. Purslane is a good choice for large sunny containers because it stays low, tolerates drier conditions, and continues flowering after the allium foliage begins to decline.
