Glenn Mango Tree is a compact Florida mango prized for smooth, fiberless fruit with sweet peach, coconut, and tropical spice flavor. Mangifera indica 'Glenn' produces oval to oblong mangoes that typically weigh 12 to 18 ounces, ripening golden yellow with an orange-red blush on fruit that gets sun. This tree matures about 15 to 20 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide when managed, making it easier to harvest than many larger mango varieties. Our team recommends Glenn for patio growers and warm-climate gardeners who want perfect early-season mangoes in June to July.
Glenn Mango Tree Care
Plant Glenn Mango Tree in spring or early summer after frost danger has passed, spacing outdoor trees 10 to 15 feet apart where the canopy can fill out without crowding walls or other fruit trees. Grow it in full sun to part sun, with best fruiting in 6 or more hours of direct light. It prefers sandy or loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH around 5.5 to 7.5 and quick drainage. Light pruning after harvest helps control height, remove dead wood, and protect the tree from frost exposure in cooler edge zones.
Growing Glenn Mango Tree
Glenn Mango Tree usually ripens fruit about 100 to 150 days after flowering, with grafted trees often producing in 1 to 3 years under warm, sunny care. It grows best outdoors in zones 9 to 11, while gardeners in colder regions can grow it as a patio tree and bring it indoors before cold nights arrive. Keep young trees warm, water steadily during establishment, and maintain the canopy at 10 to 15 feet for easier picking.
Growing Glenn Mango Tree in Containers
Glenn Mango Tree works well as a container specimen because it stays more manageable than many mangoes with regular pruning. Start with a 15- to 20-gallon pot with large drainage holes, then repot every 2 to 3 years or refresh the potting mix when growth slows. In containers, Glenn serves as the thriller plant and grows well with marigold and purslane. Landscape plantings combine well with banana trees or avocado trees in warm edible gardens.
Watering Glenn Mango Tree
Water deeply, then let the upper few inches of soil dry before watering again, especially in containers. Drooping new growth can mean the tree is too dry, while yellowing leaves and persistently wet soil often point to poor drainage or overwatering.
Feeding Glenn Mango Tree
Feed Glenn Mango Tree during the growing season with a balanced citrus or tropical fruit fertilizer that includes micronutrients. Apply from spring through summer according to the product label, then reduce feeding in fall and winter so the tree does not produce tender growth before cooler weather.
