Syngonium podophyllum, or Golden Arrowhead plant, also known as Arrowhead Vine and Goosefoot, is prized for its attractive heart- or butterfly-shaped leaves, which put on an iridescent show of golden yellow-green mottling with reddish-pink veining. Arrowhead plants are quite popular because they consistently look great while not being fussy.

Best Locations For Growing Golden Arrowhead Plant

Provide medium to bright indirect light in a location of your home that naturally receives more humidity, such as a bathroom or kitchen, or use a humidifier or pebble/stone tray underneath the plant. Place it in a location where small children or pets cannot reach it. It enjoys comfortable room temperatures between 65 - 75 degrees F. The vining tendrils will attach to surfaces, so encourage them to grow up a stake, trellis, or other suitable support.

Golden Arrowhead Plant Sunlight Requirements

Although Golden Arrowhead Plant has flexible light requirements, providing plenty of indirect sunlight will keep the color patterning on the leaves vibrant.

Golden Arrowhead Plant Care

Plant Golden Arrowhead in a loose, nutrient-rich, well-draining potting mix with plenty of added organic matter such as coco coir. If your Golden Arrowhead gets leggy, give it a trim to promote new growth and create a more compact plant. If you prefer its vines to grow long, simply remove spent or dry leaves. Propagate this plant by placing cuttings in water.

Watering Golden Arrowhead Plant

Maintain moist soil but do not allow the soil to become soggy as this promotes root rot. Avoid letting drained water sit in the saucer underneath your pot. Ensure the top 1-2 inches of soil dry out in between waterings. Check often as the amount of water you give depends on the room temperature, soil drainage, and sunlight intensity.

Feeding Golden Arrowhead Plant

Fertilize with a water-soluble, balanced fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength once a month during spring and summer.  Do not feed this plant over the winter months while it rests.
