Growing Zones
A compact, weeping redbud with brilliant golden foliage, Golden Falls® delivers a cascade of color and movement in tight spaces. Rosy-pink spring flowers line the bare branches before leaves emerge, then heart-shaped foliage opens chartreuse-gold and softens to light green through summer—glowing beautifully in dappled light. With its slender, columnar-weeping habit (about 8–10 ft tall × 3–4 ft wide), it’s a standout for courtyards, entries, patios, and small urban gardens.
Golden Falls® Redbud Tree Care
Plant in full sun to partial shade; in hotter climates, morning sun with afternoon shade helps protect the golden leaves from scorch. Choose well-drained soil enriched with compost and aim for slightly acidic to neutral pH. Water deeply and regularly during the first 1–2 seasons to establish; afterward, provide occasional deep watering during dry spells—especially in midsummer.
Mulch 2–3 inches over the root zone (keeping mulch a few inches from the trunk) to conserve moisture and moderate soil temperature. Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula if growth is modest.
Minimal pruning is needed: remove dead or crossing wood after bloom, and use a discreet stake while young to guide the central stem and accentuate the waterfall form. Generally deer-resistant and hardy in USDA Zones 5–9.
Golden Falls® Redbud Tree Spacing
For a focal specimen near paths, patios, or entries, allow 4–6 feet of clearance from walls and hardscape so the weeping skirt can drape naturally. In a narrow row or repeating accent, space 5–7 feet on center for a continuous vertical rhythm without crowding.
In mixed borders, give 4–5 feet from neighboring shrubs and perennials to showcase the silhouette and maintain airflow.
