Who says your herb garden has to have the same old boring varieties year after year with no contrast or intrigue? We certainly do not! Golden Garden Sage Plant is the culinary herb that also brings an ornamental flare to your herb or vegetable garden. Salvia officinalis ‘icterina’, or Golden Garden Sage Plant, has an incredibly unique looking and vibrant chartreuse variegation that sets it apart from any other garden sages. Golden Garden Sage Plant can be used culinarily to flavor soups and stews or as an attractive garnish. This shrub-like plant with an attractive habit is perennial from zone 7 - 9. Golden Garden Sage can produce soft lilac-colored flowers later in summer.

Golden Garden Sage Plant Care

Plant Golden Garden Sage Plant in early spring after the last threat of frost. Plant in sandy, well-drained soil with a pH from 6-7. Golden Garden Sage Plant prefers a full-sun or a part-shade location. Split and divide large mature plants in the spring after the last frost and transplant the divisions. Mulch plants heavily in the fall to insulate the crown and roots for the winter. Cut back Golden Garden Sage Plants in late winter or very early spring to remove old growth and prepare for the new growing season.

Growing Golden Garden Sage Plant

Golden Garden Sage Plants are best grown from cuttings or small starter plants; they are difficult to start from seeds. Cuttings take at least 4 weeks to root, and young plants will take 4 - 6 weeks from transplanting to establish and begin to mature. Golden Garden Sage plants can grow up to 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Space plants 2 - 3 feet apart at the time of planting. With adequate sunlight, Golden Garden Sage Plant can be grown indoors in containers.

Golden Garden Sage Plant loves to be planted outdoors in a well-drained herb, vegetable, or even ornamental garden. They are great container plants and would act as the filler role in a mixed combination planter. If potted separately, provide a 12-inch pot with a drainage hole. If planting into a combination container, choose a larger pot from 14 - 16 inches in diameter. If initially provided the correct size pot, Golden Garden Sage will not likely need repotting in the growing season. Water containers thoroughly when the soil is dry.

Watering Golden Garden Sage Plant

Golden Garden Sage Plant has lower water needs and is somewhat drought tolerant. Allow soil to dry between waterings and do not overwater.

Feeding Golden Garden Sage

Golden Garden Sage Plant has lower fertilizer needs; fertilize once or twice a year. Add compost or a slow-release, granular fertilizer at the time of planting in the spring.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
