A compact, columnar apple that fits anywhere, Golden Treat™ brings orchard-fresh crunch to patios, courtyards, balconies, and tight side yards. Its upright, spur-heavy habit (about 8–10 ft tall × 2–3 ft wide) loads up with crisp, sweet, golden fruit ideal for snacking, salads, pies, and sauce—without sprawling branches. Beautiful spring blossoms, glossy summer foliage, and a tidy silhouette make it as decorative as it is delicious.
Golden Treat™ Fruit Snacks™ Apple Tree Care
Plant in full sun (6–8+ hours) and well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (≈6.0–7.0). Water deeply and regularly the first 1–2 seasons to establish, then irrigate during dry spells—especially from bloom through fruit fill. Mulch 2–3 inches over the root zone (keep mulch a few inches off the trunk) to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer; avoid heavy summer nitrogen that pushes leafy growth over fruiting. Minimal pruning is needed for columnar apples: remove dead or crossing twigs in late winter and tip back overly vigorous shoots to maintain the narrow form—avoid hard “heading” cuts that widen the tree.
Thin fruit at marble size to one apple every 4–6 inches for better size and branch health. Golden Treat™ is generally self-fruitful in many gardens but performs best with a compatible apple or flowering crabapple nearby for cross-pollination (within ~50 ft). Typical hardiness: USDA Zones 4–8.
Golden Treat™ Fruit Snacks™ Apple Tree Spacing
For a slim hedge or row, plant 2–3 feet apart on center; for stand-alone accents, give 3–4+ feet of elbow room to showcase the column. Along paths or patios, allow at least 2–3 feet from hardscape for easy picking.
In containers, choose a sturdy pot 18–24 inches in diameter with excellent drainage; place containers 2–3 feet apart for airflow and access.
