Haworthia cooperi, also known as Coopers or Cushion Aloe (but isn’t actually in the aloe family) is a gorgeous succulent native to South Africa. It produces small clumps of fleshy rosettes, varying in color from bluish to light green. Their leaves have variable patterns with translucent stripes on the tips. It can bloom in spring through summer, producing an inflorescence of white flowers.
Best Locations For Growing Haworthia Cooperi
Place Cooperi in an area where it receives plenty of filtered light and average to warm room temperatures, ideally around 68 - 72 degrees F with lower humidity.
Haworthia Cooperi Sunlight Requirements
Haworthia Cooperi will do just fine in a variety of lighting situations, from light shade to bright indirect sunlight light, making it a flexible houseplant. It prefers protection from harsh direct sunlight and does best in filtered indirect light.
Haworthia Cooperi Care
Plant Haworthia Cooperi in a porous, well-draining potting mix, such as a formula for cactus or succulents. Alternatively, make your own using 1 part potting soil, 1 part sand, and 1 part perlite to promote excellent drainage. Avoid allowing the plant to sit in water as this will contribute to root rot. Remove any dead or decaying dry leaves as they occur.
Watering Haworthia Cooperi
During the warmer growing season, Haworthia Cooperi will need regular watering, but be sure to allow the plant to dry out in between waterings, and avoid overwatering. During the winter season, scale back and water only if you notice the leaves drying up.
Feeding Haworthia Cooperi
Haworthia Cooperi is a small, slow-growing succulent and not a heavy feeder; therefore it doesn’t require fertilization regularly.
