Bottle Rocket Caladium hortulanum, also known as Fancy Caladium, is an upright medium sized plant that grows 15-20 inches tall. It is a thriller for a container, spreading 10-14 inches. Caladiums are heat tolerant, easily maintained, and need regular watering. It is used as a border plant, container plant, and for mass planting purposes.
Heart to Heart Bottle Rocket Caladium Care
A Heart to Heart Bottle Rocket plant does not like temperatures colder than 50 degrees. It needs warmer humid weather for best growth. It does not need much fertilizer, so fertilize it with ¼ the strength you use for other flowers. Bottle Rockets need moist soil, as wilting can cause it’s leaves to yellow and drop. Deadheading is not necessary.
The bottle Rocket makes a great houseplant. Placing the container near a bright light, in a sunny windowsill, or in a sunroom is ideal.
Heart to Heart Bottle Rocket Caladium Spacing
If planting a Heart to Heart Bottle Rocket in borders or landscape areas, space it 10-14 inches from other plants. When upgrading to a larger container, plant it about ½ inch deeper to ensure the tubers have room to continue growing.
