Caladium Fast Flash is a foliage plant with flair. This green leaf beauty has pink spots and red veins that is a super thriller in your container plantings. Fast Flash is great for both sun and shade and is humidity and heat tolerant. Caladium hortulanum is a great for container planting, landscape use and mass plantings.
Hailing from tropical roots, this upright plant needs warmth and humidity to perform. Planting these too early can stall the plant. In most areas of North America, Caladium can be treated as a potted plant or houseplant with bright light or a sunny window. It should also be noted that Caladiums can be an irritant if ingested, so keep out of reach of children and pets.
Heart to Heart® Fast Flash Caladium Care
Whether planted in the landscape or in a container, Fast Flash should be kept moist. Letting it wilt will cause leaf yellowing and leaf drop. Caladiums do not require heavy fertilization, use a half strength fertilizer every two weeks for best results. Too much fertilizer will cause leaf burn.
These tropical plants do not tolerate the cold, they are happiest when temperatures are above 65F. Use a well-drained soil, while they like to be kept moist, they do not like soggy soils. Northern plantings of Fast Flash will do better in a pot as the soil will warm faster than in-ground plantings.
Heart to Heart® Fast Flash Caladium Spacing
Caladium Fast Flash reaches a height of 15-20 inches tall and has a spread of 10-14 inches. For best results, space plants 10-14 inches apart when planting in beds. For best results space plants 10-14 inches apart when planting in beds. For mass plantings, using a 10-inch spacing will give you a sea of dotted foliage.
