Suitable for growing both indoors and outdoors, the Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium’s foliage is sure to entice. Also known as Caladium hortulanum, Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry produces large heart-shaped leaves with contrasting dark green and white markings. It grows to around 20 inches tall.
Commonly grown as a houseplant, you can also grow the Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium outdoors during the warmer months. Hardy in zones 10 and 11, it is a tropical plant that is native to South and Central America. Snow Flurry is heat tolerant and used as a foliage thriller in shaded spots. It grows well directly in the ground or a container.
Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium Care
The Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium thrives in either full or partial shade. When grown outside, it prefers free-draining and fertile soil that is slightly acidic. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, but not wet. Fertilize with a diluted liquid feed during the growing season. Minimal pruning is required; simply remove dead or damaged leaves with sharp pruners when required.
Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium grows as a perennial in zones 10-11. Mulch the root zone to provide some winter protection outdoors. Alternatively, container-grown specimens can be brought indoors to overwinter.
Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium Spacing
The Heart to Heart® Snow Flurry Caladium grows to 15 to 20 inches tall and 8 to 10 inches wide. When growing several plants in a group, a spacing of 8 to 10 inches will provide a mass of striking foliage.
