The bold flavors of Hot & Spicy Oregano live up to its name. This easy-to-care-for flavorful perennial herb is a must-have for any culinary garden. Hot & Spicy dark green leaves remain attractive all season long. Its heavily branching habit grows into a round mini shrub, and pests and critters are not interested in this spicy herb. Hot & Spicy Oregano has an intense hot flavor and is the perfect choice to add a fiery kick to any dish.

Hot & Spicy Oregano Care

Hot & Spicy Oregano thrives when planted in full sun when temperatures are at or above 70 degrees F. It's fairly drought tolerant and prefers drier, well-draining soil versus sitting in damp soil, which could cause root rot. When blooms appear in the summer, it's time to cut back the foliage, which is also a great time to dry the herb and use it in your favorite recipes.

Growing Hot & Spicy Oregano

Hot & Spicy Oregano grows to 24-30 inches in height with the same spread and is considered a perennial herb when planted in USDA Hardiness Zones 5-8. It thrives when planted in a full sun location in light, well-drained soils amended with plenty of organic matter such as garden compost, shredded leaves, or manure to add nutrients, improve drainage and encourage healthy microorganisms. Apply a thin layer of organic mulch over plantings to reduce weeds and retain soil moisture. Allow soil to dry in between waterings.

Hot & Spicy Oregano can easily be grown in containers. Check and water more frequently because plants can dry out more quickly when grown in pots. Hot & Spicy Oregano can be brought indoors starting in late fall and placed near a sunny window for a continuous harvest.

Watering Hot & Spicy Oregano

Allow soil to dry out in between waterings. Doing a thorough deep soak once the soil is dried out will encourage the plant's roots to grow deeper into the ground, setting the stage for a sturdy plant.

Feeding Hot & Spicy Oregano

Fertilizing Hot & Spicy Oregano isn’t necessary if it's planted in rich organic soil. Apply a thin layer of organic mulch as a top-dressing in spring. As the mulch naturally breaks down over time, it will supply plants with important nutrients and also improve soil structure.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
