Vigorous-growing, heavy-producing plants, Hot Banana Pepper delivers both heat and exceptional flavor! Harvested from July - September, it's a heavy producer in the heat of summer. Hot Banana Pepper produces a rainbow of colorful hot peppers ranging in tones from yellow, orange, or red. Excellent used in sauces, stuffing, roasting, pickling, or using fresh from the garden in your favorite recipe.

Hot Banana Pepper Plant Care

This hybrid hot pepper grows in hardiness zones 9-12 and takes 75 days to reach maturity. It thrives in hot weather, reaching a height of 24-30 inches with a spread of up to 2 feet. Harvest Hot Banana Peppers when they reach 5-6” long and develop a firm skin. You can harvest when fruits are yellow or when they turn orange and red.

Growing Hot Banana Pepper Plant

Plant Hot Banana Pepper plant once all danger of frost has passed and when the soil temperature is warmer than 60 degrees F. Place plants in well-amended, well-draining soil where Hot Banana Peppers can receive at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.

Hot Banana Peppers can be easily grown in containers, but they will need an ample-sized pot at least 1-2 feet in diameter. The benefit is container plants can be moved around easily and can be grown where space in the garden is at a premium. Place the plant in full sun on a deck, balcony, or anywhere your pepper plant will receive at least 6 or more hours of direct sunlight. When grown in containers, they may need frequent watering; check daily during the hot summer months.

Watering Hot Banana Pepper Plant

Avoid overhead watering, instead direct water flow to the roots of the plant. Mulching around your Hot Banana Pepper plant will help maintain soil moisture.

Feeding Hot Banana Pepper Plant

Apply a well-balanced, organic liquid fertilizer once the pepper plants begin to set fruit. Apply a natural mulch around the base of your pepper plant in spring to conserve soil moisture and help suppress weeds. As the mulch slowly breaks down, it delivers much-needed nutrients to the plant's roots.
