Infinity® Blushing Crimson Impatiens Care
Easy to maintain, this New Guinea impatiens is easy to maintain. Plant it in partly shaded areas that receive 4 to 6 hours of light daily. It can be trimmed at any time to improve its shape. Deadheading is not necessary. Be vigilant of root rot or fungal issues. Botrytis and powdery mildew are fungal diseases common in new guinea impatiens. A combination of poor air circulation, damp conditions, and leftover plant debris can increase the likelihood of this. To prevent this, ensure soils dry out between waterings and the soil is porous and well-draining. Try watering in mid-morning to allow leaves to dry in between waterings. Apply light applications of fertilizer when in containers, and apply an annual application of fertilizer or compost to garden beds.
Hardy to zones 10 to 11, impatiens do not tolerate cold temperatures and do not overwinter well. In zones 9 and below treat it as an annual.
Infinity® Blushing Crimson Impatiens Spacing
When planting in the landscape and containers, space impatiens 6 to 8 inches apart. Typically deep, large containers are ideal. The bigger the container the more water is available to the plant. A 12-inch hanging basket will dry out relatively quickly. A better option would be a 14 inch or larger container.
