Brighten your shade garden all season long with masses of showy flowers. This striking New Guinea impatiens has beautiful, long, deep-green leaves. It gives you large, pale-purple blooms from late spring to the first frost. This vigorous beauty spreads from 6 to 12 inches with a mounding habit. Care for this plant is easy as it is tolerant of heat and has average water needs. Infinity® Light Purple gives exceptional performance.
Native to Papua New Guinea, Impatiens hawkeri has no serious insect or disease problems. It has an upright growth habit, producing branches freely to form compact balls. Plant it as a filler in containers, pairing it with other shade plants that provide contrasting foliage colors. Pots are preferable to hanging baskets that need much more water. In beds, utilize Infinity® Light Purple New Guinea Impatiens to create masses or groups. Use it to edge walks or paths.
Infinity Light Purple Impatiens Care
This New Guinea impatiens will grow in average soil. Before planting, work some organic matter into the bed. A liquid fertilizer may be used when grown in pots. No deadheading is needed for this self-cleaning beauty. You can pinch back the stems of young plants to encourage branching, then in summer, trim back plants that become leggy. They prefer shade but will survive in full sun. Provide them with consistent moisture; they will need more watering if you plant them in the hot sun.
It is possible to bring your impatiens indoors before frost and grow them as houseplants if you give them enough light and are careful not to overwater.
Infinity Light Purple Impatiens Spacing
Space these plants 6 to 8 inches apart in the landscape. Use one or two as a filler in combination pots.
