Mature Spread
Meet your new favorite shade star. A vigorous grower, ‘Orange Frost’ New Guinea impatiens brings reliable, showy blooms in a dreamy soft coral. Backed by amazing dark purple-green foliage with magenta veins, the blossoms sport blotches of dark persimmon and orchid highlights that elevate the effect from one of sweet pastel to high drama. The word sumptuous comes to mind. This self-cleaning Impatiens hawkeri cultivar needs no deadheading, and is amenable to a variety of exposures, given regular water.
‘Orange Frost’ is upright in habit, to 14” in height, by about 12” wide, and makes a stunning container accent (filler) or an edger to brighten a shady border. Just imagine a mass planting with lime hostas, heucheras, or ipomoeas. While it prefers even moisture, it can tolerate occasional dryness, and should perk back up when watered again.
Infinity® Orange Frost Impatiens Care
Because of their need for consistent water, Orange Frost New Guinea impatiens will be easiest to hydrate in larger containers or in the ground. Part- to full-shade is their happy place, but if well-watered, they can even tolerate full sun. Since they don’t need deadheading, no other maintenance should be needed. If you want to prune for shaping, you can do so with scissors or small pruning shears.
In the ground, fertilize with compost or slow-release fertilizer at planting. In a container, apply light fertilizer regularly throughout the growing season.
Infinity® Orange Frost Impatiens Spacing
Space these New Guinea impatiens 6-8 inches apart in containers or perhaps 10 inches apart in the landscape for a full effect; they can grow to about 12 inches wide.
