This shade loving annual can be the rock star of your shade or container garden and is relatively easy to maintain for a brilliant display of color all summer long. Perennial in Zones 10a to 11b, it will not tolerate frost at all. Plant out well after the danger of last frost has passed. Dark green, almost succulent-like leaves contrast beautifully with the intense orange flowers.
You will find this landscape and container annual to be easy to maintain, no deadheading required to achieve continuous blooms, and does not require fertilizing more than once in the season. It requires an average well draining soil and light watering when dry. Pinching back is not required and will actually delay or stop flowering. Hanging baskets may be more challenging to keep hydrated but once in the ground or in a larger container, it will hold moisture well.
Infinity Orange Impatien Care
Infinity Orange makes a great border and edging plant, and also looks great massed out in your landscape. As a houseplant, they contribute valuable oxygen to your home environment, creating a healthier ecosystem for all inhabitants. Very heat tolerant, Infinity Orange New Guinea Impatiens are vigorous upright rebloomers, topping out at about 14 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Give them good air circulation to reduce any pest or disease possibilities.
Infinity Orange Impatien Spacing
Infinity Orange pairs well with other shade loving plants and would look great with red, pink, white and purple flowered companions. Ring the base of trees in a shaded woodland setting for an incredible pop of color. Dress with compost or leaf mulch to reduce weeds for a carefree landscape setting and help maintain optimum soil pH of 6 to 6.5, slightly acidic.
