- Light Requirement is Full Shade to Partial Shade
- Height 10-14 Inches
- Width 6-12 Inches
- Use as a filler when using in containers
Pink Frost New Guinea Impatiens may just become your go-to filler for shade. The flowers, shades of pale rose-pink with magenta highlights here and there, are fun on their own. Adding the luscious purple-black foliage makes it a slam dunk! Packed with flowers all season, easy-care, and needing no deadheading, this one is a stunner for dramatic container combinations with, say, Euphorbia Diamond Frost and some Ipomea Medusa. In the garden, it will make a statement as a colorful edger or accent in shady borders.
Pink Frost is a hybrid of New Guinea impatiens, impatiens hawkeri, in the vigorous Infinity series. It will shine in part shade to full shade, though can tolerate full sun if kept well-watered. At a compact 10-14 inches high by 6-8 inches wide, this one will play nicely in containers or in mixed garden borders, with that foliage adding tropical pizazz anywhere you put it.
Infinity® Pink Frost Impatiens Care
New Guinea impatiens are amenable to a wide array of soils and light exposures. As mentioned above, they will be happy in degrees of shade, or even sun if consistently watered. They may wilt when too hot or dry but should bounce back with watering. Drainage is still important, because they do not want to sit in water, either.
Pink Frost needs little in the way of fertilizer – perhaps some compost and slow-release fertilizer or aged manure as a top dressing when planting in the landscape should be enough. In containers, maintain light fertilization with a liquid fertilizer through the season, perhaps at half-strength according to directions, or full strength but spaced out at longer intervals (every other week instead of weekly, for instance).
Infinity® Pink Frost Impatiens Spacing
You’ll want to give Pink Frost about 6 - 8 inches between plants, whether planting in the garden or in containers. In containers, choose a more generous container to enable it to hold more consistent moisture.
