When looking to fill a shaded garden or covered patio with color, it doesn’t get much better than a New Guinea Impatien. The soft bubblegum-pink petals and bright red eye of Infinity® Pink Impatiens will add a splash of color to any shady corner. The combination of these pink flowers with the dark burgundy-green leaves is remarkable and pairs well with many different planting companions. Infinity® Pink Impatiens grow in a sturdy and upright mass to be 10-14 inches tall and 6-12 inches wide. Known to be dramatic, New Guinea Impatiens tell you exactly when they need water and bounce back quickly.
Infinity® Pink Impatiens is ideal for planters, hanging baskets, borders, and mass plantings. These plants are self-cleaning, dropping their spent blooms and leaving you with more time to enjoy your summer. Because of their love for water, it is easier to grow New Guinea Impatiens in a shady spot, though they can handle sun when watered frequently. In a planter, Infinity® Pink Impatiens serve as a filler, filling in a good portion with their bright pink blooms and contrasting leaves.
Infinity® Pink Impatiens Care
The most important thing you can do for your Infinity® Pink Impatiens is to water them regularly, which can be as often as daily in the heat of the summer. Impatiens wilt quickly when they dry out, giving you a visual cue of when they need a good soak. Plant Infinity® Pink Impatiens in high quality potting or garden soil, and add a layer of mulch to help retain moisture. Fertilize Infinity® Pink Impatiens every other week during the summer with a bloom-boosting liquid fertilizer to give them plenty of nutrients.
Though not required, New Guinea Impatiens can benefit from light pruning to give them a more compact, full shape, especially if they become leggy. Infinity® Pink Impatiens do quite well in planters, given some extra room to grow and spread. New Guinea Impatiens will bloom continuously through the summer and into the fall. These annuals will wane once frost arrives and can be cleared out of a garden in the fall, or stored in a bright, cool (55 degrees F) room for the winter.
Infinity® Pink Impatiens Spacing
Plant Infinity® Pink Impatiens 6-12 inches apart. Because New Guinea Impatiens can grow a bit larger, you may only need one plant in a container, combined with a trailing spiller and tall thriller.
