Itasca Grape Vine

The Itasca Grape Vine produces sweet-tasting fruit that is popular in winemaking. Small, fragrant flowers bloom in spring and give way to clusters of round, medium-sized grapes with a greenish-yellow hue. The fruit has low acidity and high sugar and is ready to pick by mid-fall. This cold-hardy deciduous shrub boasts large, lobed foliage. 

Itasca Grape Vine Care  

Plant the Itasca Grape Vine in full sun. This plant is pest and disease resistant, but it grows best with proper air circulation, so space vines 6 to 8 feet apart. The reaching vines need a trellis or support to keep the flowers and fruit up and out of the soil. While this grapevine is cold hardy, plant it in an area protected from cold winter winds for best performance.

Growing Itasca Grape Vine 

The Itasca Grape Vine grows 15 to 20 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide. Plants usually produce fruit a few years after being planted. 

The Itasca Grape Vine is better suited to being grown in the ground, but this plant can grow in a container. Select a large container with drainage and give the Itasca Grape Vine an arbor, trellis, or another form of support.

This grapevine has average water needs. Give the Itasca Grape Vine a drink when the top few inches of soil are dry.

Feeding Itasca Grape Vine 

Fertilizing the vine increases the yield. Feed the Itasca Grape Vine using a fertilizer high in potassium in the spring before new growth appears and a second time a month later.
