Jade Necklace is one of the easiest succulents available for beginners. The unusual growth pattern produces stacks of leaves on top of each other in long ropes. Known botanically as Crassula marnieriana, this is a vigorous plant that will reach its mature size quickly. The gray-green leaves add drama to this succulent.

Best Locations For Growing Jade Necklace Plant

The smaller size of this succulent makes it a great candidate for growing on a shelf as part of a larger display or placing in a window where the ropey branches can be left to hang and sprawl at will. Jade Necklace also makes a great filler at the edge of a mixed container.

Jade Necklace Plant Sunlight Requirements

Succulents need to be grown in the brightest location of the house. A south-facing window is perfect for keeping this plant's color vibrant. Growing Jade Necklace in lower lighting will cause spindly growth and a darkening of the foliage. Jade Necklace will grow well under artificial lights. Succulents benefit from having their pots turned regularly; this helps the plants grow more upright and symmetrical.

Jade Necklace Plant Care

Jade Necklace is part of the Crassula family that includes many forms of the Jade plant. All of these plants need fast-draining potting soil. Use a commercial cactus potting mix or add perlite and sharp sand to an all-purpose, peat-free mix. Propagating Jade Necklace is extremely easy and can be done anytime of the year. Pinch off a few sections of leaves from the end of a branch and pop it in the soil. Within a few weeks, new growth will indicate that roots are forming. Repotting is only necessary every 2-3 years and only if the plant is starting to grow roots from the bottom of the pot. Growing this plant in a terracotta or other unglazed container will enhance the air circulation around the roots.

Watering Jade Necklace Plant

Jade Necklace needs to dry out completely between waterings. A thorough watering every 2-3 weeks will keep the fleshy leaves hydrated and the roots healthy. Crassula succulents prefer to live in lower humidity than tropical plants and do well in dry conditions.

Feeding Jade Necklace Plant

Fertilizers formulated for succulents will have a higher phosphorus and potassium content than nitrogen. Look for liquid feed with an NPK ratio approaching 1-1-2 or 1-2-4. Fertilize this plant once a month, year-round. Over-fertilizing will cause salts to build up in the soil and harm the plant.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
