Javelin Forte™ Deep Rose Spanish Lavender offers Spanish lavender color in a tighter, more rounded plant. The flower heads stack up with deep rose bracts above gray-green foliage, providing long color contrast. Javelin Forte™ Deep Rose Spanish Lavender stays about 20 inches tall and roughly 18 inches wide, which makes it easy to fit into sunny beds and pots. This is one of the best butterfly lavenders for form and easy maintenance.
Lavandula stoechas is valued for fragrance, evergreen texture in mild winters, and heat tolerance once roots are established. This selection is a good choice for dry sites, and it handles cold, wet winters better than many Spanish lavenders when drainage is sharp. Use it along a gravel walk, on a sunny slope where water moves away quickly, or in a container by the front door where the scent is easy to notice. It also works well in Mediterranean-style plantings where repeated mounds make the border feel organized.
Javelin Forte™ Deep Rose Spanish Lavender Care
Plant Spanish lavender in full sun for best flowering and the strongest, compact habit. Choose lean, loose, fast-draining soil, with a slightly alkaline pH around 7.0–8.0. Set the crown a little above the surrounding grade and finish with a gravel mulch to keep the base dry.
Water on a regular schedule through the first growing season, and switch to deeper, less frequent soakings once it’s established. Fertilize lightly in early spring only if growth looks pale or slow, since rich feeding can reduce flowering and loosen the plant’s shape. In colder weather Javelin Forte™ stays evergreen in warmer zones, but it can show winter tip damage where freezes are common.
Deadhead spent flower heads to keep the plant neat and to encourage more buds. After the main bloom period, give it a light trim to refine the mound, but avoid cutting into old, leafless wood. In spring, wait until you see new growth before doing any shaping cuts.
Javelin Forte™ Deep Rose Spanish Lavender Spacing
Space plants about 18–24 inches apart so air can move through the foliage and the mounds can fill in without touching. For containers, a 14–18 inch pot with excellent drainage keeps the root zone on the dry side, which is where Spanish lavender performs best.
If you grow it in the landscape, pair Javelin Forte™ with fountain grass and blanket flowers for a heat-friendly mix that carries color through summer, and include black-eyed Susans for a stronger midseason punch. In containers, add alyssum around the rim and place a pot of rosemary close by for a cohesive, sun-loving patio grouping.
