The Tillandsia Juncea is a must have for your air plant collection! The Juncea is an epiphyte, meaning it draws nutrients and moisture from the air, making it a popular easy-care plant. It features tall, slender silver-green leaves growing in a rosette form. It can grow a stunning purple flower with proper care.

Best Locations For Growing The Juncea Air Plant

The best locations for growing the Juncea air plant include East- or West-facing windows that allow bright, filtered light through. The Juncea enjoys moderate to high humidity making it ideal for bathroom or kitchen living decor.

Juncea Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

As a native to Central and South America, the Juncea air plant loves bright, indirect sunlight. Direct, intense light can cause the plant to develop burn marks, so avoid placing it directly in a South facing window.

Juncea Air Plant Care

This easy-care plant only requires a fair amount of bright light and water. Tillandsia plants like the Juncea are able to grow in the absence of fertilizer, so only use fertilizer sparingly. You should soak or mist the plant with distilled water.

Watering the Juncea Air Plant

To avoid tip browning, either soak or mist your Juncea air plant regularly. You can mist the plant 3 times per week, or soak once per week for a minimum of 30 minutes. The Juncea prefers distilled water over tap water, since distilled water simulates rain from its natural environment. Dry it upside down or shake gently to remove excess water.

Feeding the Juncea Air Plant

It is best to avoid overfeeding the Juncea by only using small doses of an all-purpose fertilizer once or twice a month to maintain healthy growth. Some growers opt for a spray fertilizer for orchids to use on their air plants once or twice a month.
