What does this mean?
This shows how the plant is typically used in a container combo — Thriller (tall focal point), Filler (mid-height mass), or Spiller (trailing over the edge).
Tip: match plant habit to the role for the best designs.
Laguna® Royale Pink Lobelia is the rare lobelia that stays full and rounded instead of going thin or melting out when summer heat arrives. Lobelia erinus 'Ballobroyin' forms a dense mound about 8–12 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, then covers itself in mauve-pink blooms from planting to frost. That tighter, more compact shape keeps your edges and window boxes looking “finished” longer. The flower color is soft, yet it doesn’t disappear, especially when planted in groups. When our team is building container recipes that need a reliable filler with a gentle pink tone, this is the one we reach for.
Laguna® Royale Pink has the classic lobelia flower effect, but with better warm-weather stamina, which stretches the season well beyond the usual spring burst. The plant is self-cleaning, so it keeps blooming without daily fuss. Bees and butterflies are regular visitors, which adds movement to patio planters and entry beds. Use it to line sunny pathways, tuck it into crevice and rock gardens, or mass it at the front of a border where you want a soft edge that won’t sprawl.
Laguna® Royale Pink Lobelia Care
Plant Laguna® Royale Pink lobelia in part sun to sun, giving it at least 4 hours of direct light for best flowering. Choose a light, well-drained soil and aim for a slightly acidic to neutral pH of about 6.0–7.0. Set plants at the same depth they were growing in the pot, then water to settle the root zone. This lobelia dislikes soggy conditions, so let the soil surface dry before watering again, especially in containers. Feed regularly during the growing season—container plantings respond well to consistent, smaller doses rather than occasional heavy fertilizing.
If high night temperatures cause a temporary pause in flowering, give the plant a light overall trim to spur new branching. It will rebound with fresh growth and a stronger bloom cycle when conditions cool.
Laguna® Royale Pink Lobelia Spacing
Space plants 6–8 inches apart to create a dense ribbon of color along edges and borders. For containers, use a 10–12 inch pot for three plants, or plant five to seven in a 14–16 inch window box, where its rounded habit fills gaps and makes mixed plantings look cohesive. For companions, try pairing it with snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus), sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatas), and million bells (Calibrachoa) to add contrasting forms while keeping similar sun and container needs.
