The Lemon Verbena Plant is a full and leafy plant that can be grown in herb gardens or containers. It features long, narrow foliage that comes to a point. The medium-green leaves have a lemon scent and can be used in tea or to flavor various dishes. Mature plants will reach 3 to 4 feet tall, and the leaves can be harvested anytime.

Lemon Verbena Plant Care

Lemon Verbena grows as a perennial in USDA zones 7 through 9. This plant can be grown outside of those zones after there is no longer a threat of frost. Plant this perennial in full sun, in rich, well-drained soil. Space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Straggly-looking plants can be cut back by one-third to rejuvenate growth.

Growing Lemon Verbena Plant

The Lemon Verbena Plant will reach 3 to 4 feet tall and 12 to 15 inches wide at maturity. Remove leaves using sharp, clean shears. Leaves can be picked as soon as they are large enough to use.

Plant Lemon Verbena in a container for flexible placement options and year-round use. Select a 12- to 14-inch wide container with drainage. Place the container on a deck or patio during the spring and summer, and bring the plant inside when the weather turns cold.

Watering Lemon Verbena Plant

Water the Lemon Verbena Plant when the top couple inches of soil are dry. Container-grown plants will need water more often.

Feeding Lemon Verbena Plant

Routine feedings will encourage more growth and keep the plant full and robust. Fertilize Lemon Verbena every couple of weeks using balanced, water-soluble plant food.

    Rockin Deep...

Posted by Beatrice J. Rosenthal on May 30, 2023

This is my second year ordering from plant addicts and I can’t imagine stopping any time soon. It started with the availability of the Rockin Deep Purple Salvia, but I’ve ordered others this year. They come at the correct time for your zone and are packaged perfectly. The plants come to you very healthy. You can tell that they really care about their products and customers.

It wasn’t in the best shape. The money we spent on the plant was kind of a lot for what we received.
