Make the Room Feel Like the Holidays
Nothing sets the scene like a fresh-cut Fraser fir. Soft, blue-green needles with silvery undersides, naturally full shape, and sturdy, evenly spaced branches make decorating easy—from delicate glass ornaments to heirloom keepsakes. The clean, woodsy fragrance fills your home the moment it’s set in the stand, creating a classic Christmas focal point for gatherings, photos, and cozy nights in.
Simple Care for Weeks of Freshness
Give your tree a fresh ½-inch cut across the base, place it in water immediately, and set it up away from heat vents, fireplaces, and direct sun. Use a large-capacity stand (at least 1 gallon) and keep the reservoir topped off—never let the cut end dry out. Plain, fresh water is best; no additives needed. Cooler rooms extend freshness, and LED lights reduce heat around the needles.
Good to Know + Helpful Tips
-
Typical longevity: 4–6 weeks with consistent water and a cool location
-
First-week thirst: trees can drink up to a gallon per day—check morning and night
-
Branch strength: supports heavier ornaments; space is great for ribbon and garland
-
Safety: keep cords and outlets dry; turn lights off when unattended
-
End of season: use municipal recycling/mulch programs or protect perennials with boughs
FAQs
Why choose a Fraser fir?
Fraser firs combine excellent needle retention with a naturally symmetrical, conical form and strong, upturned branches. The soft, blue-green needles with silvery undersides add depth and sparkle under lights.
How long will it stay fresh?
With a fresh cut, immediate hydration, and a full water reservoir, most trees look their best for 4–6 weeks. Cooler rooms and LED lighting help extend display time.
How big of a stand do I need?
Choose a stable stand that holds at least 1 gallon of water and fits the trunk without shaving bark. The cut surface must remain submerged at all times.
Do I need to add sugar, aspirin, or tree preservatives to the water?
No. Clean, plain water is all that’s required. Additives don’t improve uptake and can create residue in the stand.
What if the water level drops below the cut?
Re-cutting is ideal, but if the tree is already decorated, refill immediately and monitor closely. Prevent this by checking the stand daily—twice daily during the first week.
Where should I place the tree?
Pick a cool spot away from heat sources and direct sun, with a nearby outlet for lights and clear traffic flow. Protect floors with a waterproof mat or tray under the stand.
How do I dispose of it after the holidays?
Most communities offer tree recycling or curbside pickup for mulching. You can also clip branches to insulate garden beds and compost smaller pieces where allowed.
