Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana (Lantana camara) is tough in hot climates and features clusters of continuous blooms. This annual can be grown as a perennial in warmer climates, zones 9 - 11. Beneficial pollinators like hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees swarm to Lantana. Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana has brilliant orange, peach and yellow colored blooms. Interestingly, multiple colors are often found on the same cluster of flowers. Blooming starts after planting in the spring and lasts until the first frost of autumn.
With great heat tolerance, Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana promises lasting color through the dog days of summer. This plant is perfect for hanging baskets or use as a groundcover. Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ also works nicely in a landscape border planting, mass planting, or in patio containers. With a mounded growth habit, it makes a natural filler in “thriller, filler, spiller” container plans.
Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana Care
Lantana requires full sun exposure, at least 4 - 6 hours of sunlight daily. Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana is low maintenance after establishment, and has average water requirements. Water this plant when the soil looks dry or the foliage is slightly wilted. Deadheading is not necessary for Lantana to rebloom. It can be pruned at any time to promote full, bushy growth with increased branching. Fertilize upon planting and once again in midsummer to boost growth.
Native to Mexico, Tropical Americas, and the West Indies, your Lantana will need extra care in cold climates. If you’d like to save your containers of Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana for the next growing season, relocate your pots indoors but keep in mind that this plant is considered toxic to pets.
Luscious® Basket Tangelo™ Lantana Spacing
This plant has a spread of about 12 - 24 inches, and will require that much space to grow into. Space your Lantana about 12 - 24 inches apart for best results.
