If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain, then you will absolutely love Lantana ‘Luscious Pina Colada! It loves the heat, brightens up the garden with its white flowers and golden throats, citrus scented foliage and non-stop blooms!
It is a mounding plant that can be used in containers as well as in the landscape. It is also highly deer and rabbit resistant! It is hardy from Zone 9a-11b and has almost no insect or disease problems. Pollinators love lantana including hummingbirds, butterflies and bees! This is a great plant for a mass planting or using as a border in the landscape.
Luscious® Royale Piña Colada Lantana Care
‘Luscious Pina Colada’ is drought and heat resistant once established and needs very little care. Just a well-drained soil, full sun and average watering is all that is required. An all-purpose fertilizer once a month is ideal.
If you notice that the plant is producing more seed than flowers, a quick haircut will remedy that quickly. Some lantana are self-cleaning which means you don’t have to remove the seeds. If you live in an area where it is perennial a harder prune in early spring will bring it into shape for the rest of the year. The Humane Society of America states that Lantana leaves can be toxic to pets. The leaves are a bit prickly and citrus scented so that can deter most animals.
Luscious® Royale Piña Colada Lantana Spacing
Space these plants 12 - 24 inches apart center on center, to ensure the mature plants have enough space. In containers at least 12 inches apart should suffice.
