Main Street USA weaves the colors of Old Glory into one carefree arrangement. Supertunia Really Red’s adds true-scarlet trumpets, Supertunia Mini Vista White has snow-pure blooms, and Supertunia Royal Velvet offers deep indigo-purple flutes. From late spring through the final autumn frost, each 4.5-inch start reaches about ten inches, then arches two feet in every direction, draping baskets, window boxes, and parade-route borders in continuous color. The blossoms draw hummingbirds and painted lady butterflies while delivering unmistakable curb appeal.
Heat tolerance, self-cleaning petals, and strong disease resistance keep this trio looking polished even during midsummer droughts or coastal humidity. All three cultivars share a mounded-trailing habit, so they knit together smoothly without bald spots, doubling as spillers and fillers in patriotic containers or edging along flagstone paths. Use them to flank driveways, mass beneath mailboxes, or anchor Fourth-of-July planters with a living flag theme. Deer typically pass these by.
Main Street USA Combination Care
Set transplants in a peat-based, well-drained mix enriched with a slow-release fertilizer, then water deeply. Place where at least six hours of direct sun reach the foliage; afternoon shade is acceptable in zones where summer temperatures exceed 95 °F. Allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering again—containers may need daily irrigation during extreme heat, while in-ground beds often suffice with one inch of moisture weekly. Feed every other week with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer, and, if midsummer stems grow sparse, shear the planting back by one-third and fertilize to trigger fresh branching.
Although these petunias persist as perennials only in frost-free zones 10–11, gardeners everywhere can enjoy the display until hard freeze. In colder regions, move containers to a bright sunroom to extend bloom a few extra weeks. Outdoors, plants retain color until nighttime lows dip into the high 30s °F, ensuring reliable red, white, and blue through Labor Day and beyond.
Main Street USA Combination Spacing
For a 12- to 14-inch hanging basket, space one Really Red, one Mini Vista White, and one Royal Velvet evenly around the rim so stems can cascade. Large patio tubs 16-18 inches wide handle two of each cultivar for a fuller fountain of color. Single plants thrive in pots as small as ten inches, but choose deeper containers—at least eight inches—to support the root system and reduce watering frequency. In garden beds, transplant on 14-inch centers; within four weeks, mounds meet to form a seamless carpet.
