Mango Entrée German Bearded Iris features big apricot blooms with faint veining along its tangerine falls. The heavily ruffled flowers sit on top of long, straight, green stems. This bicolor bearded iris adds height, brilliant color, and texture to beds, borders, and cut flower bouquets. The fragrant flowers of Iris germanica 'Mango Entrée' also attract butterflies and support the bees.

Originating from warmer areas in the Mediterranean and southeast Europe, this tall bearded iris is drought resistant and deer and rabbit resistant. It grows vigorously and is cold hardy in zones 3-9. With minimal problems, an amateur gardener with little spare time could not ask for an easier perennial.

Mango Entrée German Bearded Iris Care

To encourage the best blooming, choose a planting location in full sun. Plant Mango Entrée German Bearded Iris in moist, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5. This selection does not like wet feet and is susceptible to root rot; amend poorly draining soil with compost. Water when the top one to two inches of soil are dry. Provide approximately one inch of water weekly and a low-nitrogen fertilizer twice a year, once before flowering and another shortly after it has concluded.

Deadhead old, withered blooms as soon as they die to encourage more buds to open. At the end of the flowering season, cut back brown foliage to one or two inches high. Divide rhizomes during midsummer every 3 to 5 years and replant elsewhere in the garden.

Mango Entrée German Bearded Iris Spacing

Space each plant 12 to 24 inches apart. To magnify color, plant this iris in groups of 3 to 5. Select companion plants including roses, delphinium, alliums, lupine, lilies, and salvia. Make striking bouquets by adding this cut flower to belles of Ireland, lilies, hydrangea, alliums, and roses.
