Access to bright light or fluorescent is optimal. Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid damaging leaves. East facing windows provide welcomed morning sun.

Well drained soil is optimal. When planting use a soil that is equally mixed with potting, perlite, and sand. Pruning is rarely required, when it is, trim leaves from their base. Repot in the spring when desired. Start with a six inch pot and increase by one to two inches as necessary.

Soil should be moist at all times. The Maria Chinese Evergreen has moderate water needs. Be sure not to over water as it can cause root rot.
