Growing Zones
A luminous, upright evergreen with densely layered, silvery-blue needles, Moonglow Juniper delivers instant drama and year-round structure. Its naturally pyramidal form (about 15–20' tall × 6–8' wide) makes a striking focal point, a refined privacy screen, or a wind-tough hedgerow—especially where four-season color and low maintenance are must-haves.
Moonglow Juniper Care
Plant in full sun (6+ hours) in well-drained soil; junipers dislike “wet feet.” Loosen native soil and amend only if drainage is poor. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish; once rooted, Moonglow is notably drought tolerant—water only during extended dry spells. Mulch 2–3" over the root zone (keep mulch a few inches off the trunk) to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.
Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release formula if growth is modest. Prune sparingly to maintain the natural pyramid—light tip shearing or removal of damaged branches is best; avoid heavy cuts into old wood. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7.
Moonglow Juniper Spacing
For a solid privacy screen or windbreak, plant 5–7 feet apart on center; for a looser, airy row, use 7–9 feet. As a specimen near patios, entries, or corners, allow 6–8+ feet from walls, walkways, and other shrubs to showcase the silhouette and ease maintenance. For double-row windbreaks, stagger plants 6–8 feet apart with rows 6–10 feet apart.
