The white-speckled purple flowers of the Night Sky Petunia resemble a clear and starry night. A newly introduced Petunia x hybrida, Night Sky is a fabulous plant for color and will flower all season long. It grows 10 to 16 inches tall and is a remarkable annual plant you have to see to believe.
A trailing habit makes the Night Sky Petunia ideal for planting in a container or window box where it will spill over the sides. However, it is also well suited to growing at the front of the border. A tender annual, Night Sky Petunia is susceptible to frosts and is hardy in zones 10 to 11.
Night Sky Petunia Care
The Night Sky Petunia grows best with plenty of sunlight. It can handle most soil types, but performs best on a nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. Water when the soil dries out, and fertilize with a balanced liquid feed every 2 to 3 weeks during the growing season. Deadhead as the flowers fade and trim leggy stems if they appear.
The Night Sky Petunia is commonly grown as an annual and will flower from early summer until the fall. As the temperatures drop, you can place it on a sunny windowsill to overwinter. Container-grown plants will need to be watered more frequently than those in the ground to prevent the soil from drying out
Night Sky Petunia Spacing
The Night Sky Petunia can grow from 10 to 16 inches tall and spread up to 20 to 30 inches across. When planting en masse, a spacing of 24 inches will allow the plants to fill out nicely over the summer.
