It can be hard to pick the most beautiful plant in the Nightingale Container Garden, but the good news is you don’t have to choose because you get all three. Each of these plants stands out due to its striking good looks, yet they all work together without overshadowing one another. The small soft pink flowers of the Superbells® Honeyberry™ coordinate beautifully with the vibrant orange blooms of the Superbells® Dreamsicle® which are contrasted by the dazzling pinkish-purple flowers of the Supertunia Vista® Jazzberry®.
These beauties are mounding, which means they naturally have a full and rounded look. The stems can grow long and trail over the edge of a container, creating a cascading effect. These plants are easy to care for, and finding a good spot for them to call home is the most important. Otherwise, they need minimal care to thrive, and they are a draw for pollinators, so expect to see butterflies and hummingbirds spring through fall while these plants are blooming.
Nightingale Container Garden Combo Care
The Nightingale Container Garden can be planted in a 10-inch container, or the plants can be used as fillers in other containers or plantings. The Petunia will trail up to 36 inches, and both Calibrachoas will trail about 30 inches, so a container placed high enough for the stems to hang down is ideal.
Plant in partial to full sun. The plants may not bloom if grown in low light, so find an area that receives at least 4 hours of light. Rich soil, high in organic content, supports healthy growth. The soil should be slightly acidic and allow water to drain. Calibrachoa plants like to dry out between watering, so wait until the top several inches are dry before giving the plant water. Feed the plants every 2 to 4 weeks using a water-soluble fertilizer and pinch back spent flowers to promote more growth.
Nightingale Container Garden Combo Ideas
Calibrachoa plants thrive in containers, and these plants complement one another when grouped together, so featuring all three in a single container is a great option. Petunias have more flexibility when it comes to planting options, so while they make excellent container plants, they also look fabulous in landscapes and mass plantings.
