- Deep black & purple leaves contrast with electric yellow flowers!
Begonia Nonstop Mocca Yellow is breathtaking. Its beautiful rose-like blooms display a brilliant lemon color. The deep black and purple leaves set the stage for the electric yellow flowers to pop in the shade. At only 12 inches in height, and a 12 to 14-inch spread, its upright habit is perfect for enhancing any entryway. This begonia will literally flower non stop all spring and summer long.
The best attribute is that the prolific blooms need no deadheading. Begonia nonstop is a hybrid originally native to South America and southern Africa, and it is easy to see why this plant is heat tolerant. When used in container culture, Begonia works great as a filler. This plant looks stunning on a shady balcony, in a shady window box planter, or under the dappled light of a tree canopy. Whether Begonia nonstop is in a container or in the landscape, it is sure to create the perfect garden sanctuary.
Nonstop® Mocca Yellow Begonia Care
Care is relatively easy, but there are just a few things to be mindful of. Nonstop begonia requires shade to part shade or at least four hours of indirect or dappled sunlight daily. Soil and water needs are average and this plant grows in rich, well-draining soil. Nonstop begonias are known to be heavy feeders, so apply diluted fertilizer regularly. When humidity is high, these plants are prone to powdery mildew. To combat this, trim back infected growth to increase airflow, water in the morning instead of the evening, and use fungicide sprays as a preventative.
Begonia Nonstop is an annual in most of the US, but it is hardy in zones 10 and 11. To save money, try overwintering tubers. Store tubers in a cool dry location (35 to 45 degrees F) in fall and plant tubers outside after your last frost-free date in spring.
Nonstop® Mocca Yellow Begonia Spacing
When planting in either landscape or in containers, space Begonia Nonstop 12 to 14 inches apart. A 12-inch pot will display the perfect centerpiece plant. Try adding 4 to 5 begonias to a 24-inch container, to create more of a show-stopping display.
