Named after the rose breeder David Austin Jr., it is not surprising that the Olivia Rose Austin has become a classic. A repeat bloomer from spring until the fall, the Olivia Rose Austin produces large, pink, cupped rosettes that have a delightful and slightly fruity scent. Its dark green foliage forms an excellent base to help its blooms really stand out. Excellent disease resistance helps ensure this rose remains healthy throughout the growing season.
Bred by the world renowned UK rose breeder, the Olivia Rose Austin is bound to be a talking point. Suitable for growing in USDA zones 5 through 9, its strongly scented flowers are a delight whether left to enjoy in the garden or when used as a cut flower. With a shrub rose habit and a height of around 3.5 feet, this rose is ideal for growing in borders, planting en masse, forming a low informal hedge, or even enhancing a container.
Olivia Rose Austin Care
The Olivia Rose Austin flowers best when grown in full sun. As with all roses, it appreciates fertile soil that is well drained, but evenly moist. A rose-specific fertilizer can be applied during the growing season to help encourage its repeat flowers and to maintain health. Water this rose frequently upon planting and until it has established, after which you can water deeply about once a week.
To keep this rose blooming all season long, any faded flowers should be regularly deadheaded. In late winter, any dead or diseased material can be cut away and the remaining stems shortened by one-third. To help prevent disease, any pruning tools used should be sharpened and cleaned before use.
Olivia Rose Austin Spacing
The Olivia Rose Austin can reach a maximum height of 36-40 inches tall and 30-36 inches wide. If growing this rose in a container, a minimum pot size of 18 inches across is advisable.
