The name says it all! Patio Snacker Cucumber is a highly productive cucumber ideal for those tight on space! Super sweet, thin-skinned fruit are produced continually on compact, vigorous plants. This hybrid is great for fresh eating, with 2-8” long fruit that have a satisfying crunch. Ideal for container growing, Patio Snacker Cucumber will rival the production of even the largest cucumber plants. High yields will be produced all summer long!
Patio Snacker Cucumber Care
Plant Patio Snacker Cucumber outside after all danger of frost has passed, typically when nighttime temperatures have reached 50°F. Patio Snacker Cucumber enjoys full sun with warm, well-drained soils. Potting soil containing perlite is often a good choice for growing these cucumbers. Patio Snacker Cucumber will produce loads of fruit even without optimal pollination, but hand-pollination may increase yields. A small paintbrush can be used to hand-pollinate; simply use it to get pollen from male flowers and apply it to the stigma of the female flowers. Female flowers can be differentiated from the male flowers by the small, rounded fruit on the stem near their flowers. Continuously harvesting the ripe fruit will increase yields as well.
Growing Patio Snacker Cucumber
Patio Snacker Cucumber is a climbing variety that requires trellising for support. Growing 3-4 feet tall, this vining cucumber will start producing fruit in about 40 days after being planted outside. It is perfect for planting in small gardens, raised beds, and containers.
For container growing, select a pot that is approximately twice as big as the plant’s root system. Plastic pots will retain moisture the best. Patio Snacker Cucumber can also be grown with other plants. Adding colorful, flowering annuals to a large container with Patio Snacker Cucumber adds a fun, attractive twist to growing this plant.
Watering Patio Snacker Cucumber
Water deeply twice a week. Water more often if your Patio Snacker Cucumber plant is planted in containers, or during extended hot, dry spells. Watering early in the morning is best for moisture retention.
Feeding Patio Snacker Cucumber
Space plants 12” apart and lightly fertilize every 2-4 weeks with a well-balanced fertilizer. Choose a formula for veggies and water well before applying.
