Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis arrives planted and ready to send up rich red trumpet blooms for the holidays. This Hippeastrum 'Bingo' grows about 12 to 18 inches tall and 4 to 6 inches wide. The 28/30 cm bulb gives a fuller display than smaller gift bulbs, with multiple blooms per stem in a compact pot. Our favorite use is on a mantel, desk, or sideboard where the green stems show above the decorative sleeve and the flowers can open at eye level.
Bingo performs reliably indoors in bright, indirect light at typical room temperatures. Most kits bloom about six to eight weeks after arrival, and each display lasts for weeks. Set the pot where you’ll see it often, water when the top inch of mix is dry, and rotate the container every few days so the stalk grows straight. Moving the plant slightly cooler once buds start to open can extend the bloom time.
Best Locations For Growing Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis
Grow Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis on a dining table, kitchen island, office desk, mantel, bright shelf, or bedroom dresser. It also makes an easy host or teacher gift because the bulb is already planted and packaged for display. Amaryllis is not suitable for homes where pets or children may chew plants, since the bulb and plant parts can be toxic if eaten.
Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis Sunlight Requirements
Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis grows best in bright indirect light, though it can bloom in lower light than many flowering houseplants. Place it near an east, west, or lightly filtered south-facing window for straighter stems and richer color. Rotate the pot every few days so the flower stalk does not lean heavily toward the light.
Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis Care
Keep Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis in its container and decorative sleeve while it blooms, but make sure any extra water can drain away. After each flower stem finishes blooming, cut that stem back to the top of the container. The bulb may send up more flower stems in the same season before it switches to leaf growth. Once only leaves remain, the blooming cycle for that year is finished.
Watering Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis
Water with 1 cup or less while the flower stalk is forming, and skip watering if the soil still feels moist. After blooms open, water only when the soil is completely dry. Average indoor humidity is enough for this bulb.
Feeding Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis
Do not fertilize Pre-Potted Bingo Amaryllis while it is blooming from the stored energy in the bulb. If keeping it after the first season, feed the potted bulb during active leaf growth with a balanced houseplant fertilizer so it can rebuild strength for a future bloom. Provide a rest period in late fall by reducing water and storing the bulb in a cool, dark place for eight to ten weeks before returning it to bright light and resuming normal care.
FAQs
What makes Bingo different from other amaryllis?
Bingo is selected for its saturated, classic red flowers and strong stems, giving a bold holiday look with minimal effort. Because it is pre-potted, you can start enjoying growth immediately without planting.
How much light and water does it need?
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Water only when the top inch of the potting mix feels dry, starting sparingly and increasing slightly as the stem grows. Keep the mix evenly moist but never wet.
When will it bloom, and how long will the flowers last?
The typical window is six to eight weeks from arrival, depending on temperature and light. Once open, flowers generally last two to three weeks, and a slightly cooler location can help extend the show.
Can I keep the bulb to rebloom next year?
Yes. After flowering, remove the spent stalk and grow the leaves in bright light, watering when the top inch is dry and feeding regularly. In late fall, rest the bulb in a cool, dark place for eight to ten weeks, then bring it back to bright light to start a new bloom cycle.
Do I need to fertilize this season?
Fertilizer isn’t necessary for the first bloom because the bulb stores ample energy. If you plan to keep the bulb, begin feeding every two to three weeks after flowering while the foliage is actively growing.
