The Propeller Plant is a lovely succulent that has a fantastic bloom. A deep-red flower appears during the summer months and lasts for weeks. Scientifically known as Crassula falcata, this succulent is native to South Africa and puts on all its growth in the winter while other houseplants are taking a break. This plant is also known by the names Money Plant, Airplane Plant, Scarlet Paintbrush, and Red Crassula.

Best Locations For Growing Propeller Plant

The Propeller Plant is best placed on a table top or desk as a specimen plant. Crassulas will do well on a patio or deck during the summer. The higher light levels encourage better blooming and a more potent scent.

Propeller Plant Sunlight Requirements

The pale, grayish-green leaves will turn darker when grown in lower lighting. Place this plant on a south-facing windowsill or in an east or west exposure. When moving outside for the summer, take a few days to acclimate the plant to higher levels of light. The leaves are likely to be bleached if placed directly in full sun.

Propeller Plant Care

Potting mix for Cacti and Succulents will provide the correct amount of drainage for Crassula roots. If you only have an all-purpose potting mix available, add perlite or sharp sand at a ratio of 1:1. Repot when the roots begin to grow out the bottom of the pot. Do not let Propeller Plants get too cold or place them in a drafty spot.

Watering Propeller Plant

The Propeller plant needs time to dry out in between waterings. The best method to water the Propeller plant is to sit the pot in a sink of room-temperature water that comes halfway up the sides. Allow the water to be absorbed from the bottom until the soil's top is wet. This ensures that all of the soil is hydrated evenly. Humidity levels do not have to be high for this succulent. Regular indoor levels of 40-50% are acceptable.

Feeding Propeller Plant

Fertilizer will help Propeller Plant bloom, but there is no need to apply it more than two times throughout the year. Use a diluted, liquid Orchid fertilizer once in the spring and again six weeks later. Apply it at half the manufacturer's recommended strength, being careful not to get it on the leaves or between leaf joints.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
