Feature
As the name of this anthurium suggests, it is a sterile hybrid cross between two species, Anthurium radicans, which has heart-shaped leaves with pointed tipsand the wider, more oval Anthurium luxurians. This hybrid is particularly known for its showy foliage. The leaves are large, thick, and bullate, so they have a bumpy texture. Young leaves emerge pink and develop into a deep, rich green complemented by deep red to brown petioles.
Best Locations For Growing Radicans x Luxurians Anthurium
To keep this plant healthy, situate it in a warm spot with bright indirect light. It prefers high levels of humidity, so steer clear of drafty areas and heater or air conditioner vents. Anthuriums are toxic, so use these attractive plants cautiously where children and pets are present.
Radicans x Luxurians Anthurium Sunlight Requirements
Position this anthurium in bright indirect sunlight. Too much direct light burns the leaves. An east-facing window with only gentle morning light is one excellent option.
Radicans x Luxurians Anthurium Care
Choose a well-drained, coarse, and slightly acidic potting soil rich in organic matter and plan to repot this fast-growing anthurium every two to three years. Cut off yellowing or browning leaves as they appear to keep the plant looking tidy and discourage pests.
Watering Radicans x Luxurians Anthurium
Water the Radicans x Luxurians anthurium deeply whenever the top 2 inches of soil in the container feels dry to the touch. This plant prefers high levels of humidity, so regular misting when conditions are dry will keep the anthurium healthy.
Feeding Radicans x Luxurians Anthurium
To promote vigorous, healthy growth, fertilize the anthurium once per month when the plant is actively growing. Use a complete, well-diluted water-soluble fertilizer intended for flowering houseplants according to label instructions.
