Give your space that classic holiday pop with the bold, candy-cane tones of Red and White Single Amaryllis. This Hippeastrum 'Minerva' produces red open-faced flowers with a white star center and a lime green throat. The single pre-potted bulb typically grows 20 to 24 inches tall and about 6 to 8 inches wide, with 2 to 3 stems possible from a large bulb. This showstopper comes prepotted and gift-ready, with no assembly required.
Best Locations For Growing Red and White Single Amaryllis
Grow Red and White Single Amaryllis on a mantel, dining table, kitchen counter, office desk, entry table, or bright bedroom dresser. Ideal room temps are 60–75°F. It arrives in a 6-inch nursery pot with festive foil and moss, so it is easy to display as-is or set inside a decorative cachepot. Amaryllis is not suitable for homes where pets or children may chew plants, since the bulb and plant parts can be toxic if eaten.
Red and White Single Amaryllis Sunlight Requirements
Red and White Single Amaryllis grows best in bright, indirect light near an east, west, or lightly filtered south-facing window. Direct morning sun is usually fine, but hot afternoon sun can shorten bloom life. Rotate the pot every few days to help the flower stalk stay straighter as it grows.
Red and White Single Amaryllis Care
Keep Red and White Single Amaryllis in its pre-potted container while it blooms, making sure extra water can drain away from the foil sleeve. Planting depth should leave the top third of the bulb above the soil line, which helps protect the neck from rot. Add a slender stake if the stems begin to lean under the weight of the flowers. After each stem finishes blooming, cut it back near the top of the bulb and leave any foliage in place.
Watering Red and White Single Amaryllis
Water sparingly until growth appears, then water when the top half of the soil feels dry; water should be directed onto the soil rather than into the bulb neck. Expect blooms about 6–10 weeks after the first thorough watering. Average indoor humidity is enough.
Feeding Red and White Single Amaryllis
No fertilizer is needed during the first bloom cycle because the bulb already holds the energy needed for flowering. If saving the bulb after bloom, feed the leaves every 2 to 4 weeks with a diluted balanced houseplant fertilizer until the plant is ready for dormancy. Continue light watering while recharging the bulb.
