Put Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens in part shade to shade and you get beautiful double pink flowers that look like roses. These flowers last from spring to first frost. This Impatiens has been bred to thrive in hot and humid environments that are too hostile for regular Impatiens.
The dark green foliage contrasts nicely with the pink flowers. Use as a border, in a bed, or in a mixed container. In a container, Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens acts as a filler because of its mounded shape.
Rockapulco® Appleblossom Impatiens Care
Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens are easy to grow. You can put some compost or a slow-release fertilizer around them when you plant them in the landscape for a season of pretty blooms. For Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens in containers, fertilize with a water-soluble fertilizer on a regular basis to keep the blooms going. You do not have to deadhead Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens to keep the blooms coming, but it looks better if you do. They like moist, well-drained soil, so water them regularly. Do not keep them too wet, or they will die.
A perennial native to East Africa, Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens does not survive the winter in the United States, so is treated as an annual. They will self-seed if you do not deadhead them. When the seeds are ready to disburse, they explode out of the seed pod. If you are not careful to deadhead them before this happens, the Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens can spread quite a bit into neighboring garden beds.
Rockapulco® Appleblossom Impatiens Spacing
Rockapulco Appleblossom Impatiens grow to 10-20 inches tall and are considered medium in size. They are wider than they are tall, spreading to 12-24 inches wide. If you give them 10-12 inches of space, you can create a wall of flowers as an edging or in the landscape.
