Rose Guzmania Bromeliad, otherwise known as Guzmania monostachia, Bromeliad Guzmania, Guzmania Bromeliad 'Rose', and West Indian Tufted Airplant, is a slow-growing epiphytic cultivar originating from Central and South America. A humidity-tolerant perennial distantly related to the common pineapple, Rose Guzmania Bromeliad has elongated evergreen foliage and develops crimson bracts that last for almost four months when this herbaceous air plant blooms. If afforded bright direct light, average temperatures, and high humidity, Rose Guzmania Bromeliad will add charm to any home or office.

Best Locations For Growing Rose Guzmania Bromeliad

Rose Guzmania Bromeliad prefers bright indirect light, temperatures ranging between 60°F to 85°F, and humidity levels of 60% to 70%. Any room possessing these conditions such as a bathroom is ideal. Also, since this lovely house plant is nontoxic to people and pets, you can maintain this striking Bromeliad in any room and not worry about little hands or paws being at risk.

Rose Guzmania Bromeliad Sunlight Requirements

Rose Guzmania Bromeliad prefers bright indirect light. A south-facing, west-facing or east-facing window will suffice; however, during periods of direct light, place this lovely house plant a few feet away from any windows in order to prevent sunburn.

Rose Guzmania Bromeliad Care

This Bromeliad prefers moist, well-draining, acidic soil with a target pH range of 5.0 to 6.0. While most epiphytes don’t require soil, this Bromeliad thrives in a balanced houseplant potting soil amended with peat moss/sand/perlite/coco coir. Rose Guzmania Bromeliad produces showy scarlet blooms most often during winter or spring. This plant, however, is monocarpic, meaning it will only produce flowers once, usually after three years, and then die. Typically, however, the mother plant will produce offsets prior to dying and so you will have ample opportunities to maintain the splendor of this cultivar year after year.

Watering Rose Guzmania Bromeliad

Rose Guzmania Bromeliad can be watered by pouring water into the main circular depression that is created by this plant’s foliage or by dampening the soil surrounding this tropical perennial. Only water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry to the touch. The need to water will decrease as you progress from the growing season to the dormant period.

Feeding Rose Guzmania Bromeliad

This slow-growing Bromeliad does not require a lot of fertilizer. Once or twice per month during the summer, feed this lovely plant a balanced water-soluble fertilizer diluted 50% during the growing season. Do not feed this tropical perennial, however, when it is blooming.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
