This beautiful tropical succulent is native to South and Central America. Its variegated, dark-green leaves and bright-red stalks grow in a rosette pattern. Also known as Peperomia Rosso, Eden Rosso, Radiator Plant and Emerald Ripple Pepper, this is an easy growing and unique houseplant that will thrive given the right conditions. It’s also pet and kid friendly!

Best Locations For Growing Rosso Peperomia

This is a great plant for just about any room or office. You can place it on your desk, at the end of a bookshelf, or on a kitchen counter. This plant is non-toxic, so you needn’t worry about your pets or children getting ahold of it.

Rosso Peperomia Sunlight Requirements

The Rosso Peperomia prefers bright indirect light. It can also do well in partial morning or evening sun, but it does not tolerate full direct sun. Too little light can cause your plant to grow slowly, while too much sun can scorch the leaves.

Rosso Peperomia Care

This plant does not tolerate extreme heat or cold. Keep it in a location that ranges between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Use a well-draining potting mix. A cactus or succulent potting mix will do. Don’t repot until the roots begin to grow out of the drainage holes. Be careful while repotting, as the plant has extremely fragile, delicate roots.

You should prune your plant periodically to control its size and shape. The best time to prune is in the early springtime.

Watering Rosso Peperomia

Do not allow your Rosso Peperomia to dry out, as its fragile roots cannot tolerate drought conditions. When the top several inches of soil are dry, give it a deep watering. Allow the water to soak through the roots, then tip out any excess water. Generally, you’ll need to water the plant every 7-10 days. Reduce watering significantly during the summer.

Your Rosso Peperomia will do well in standard household humidity levels. However, if it is especially hot or dry in your home, set your plant near a wet pebble tray or humidifier.

Feeding Rosso Peperomia

Choose a balanced 20-20-20 fertilizer for your Rosso Peperomia, using it at half the recommended strength on the label. During the growing season, fertilize it twice a month. During the fall and winter, only fertilize once a month.
