What can you make with fresh, plump, juicy, garden strawberries? Preserves, jams, jellies, shortcakes, parfaits, trifles, pies, muffins, lemonades, milkshakes, daiquiris, margaritas, and much, much more! Having the ability to make so many yummy things with this easy-access fruit makes the decision to grow Seascape Strawberry Plant a no-brainer. An everbearing strawberry plant, this herbaceous perennial, otherwise known as Fragaria x ananassa 'Seascape', provides a high yield of sweet, red strawberries from spring until fall. Bred by Goodness Grows Edibles, this herbaceous perennial’s showy, pearly white blooms are followed by mature fruit in 30 days. Accompanied by dramatic emerald-green foliage, this plant provides visual interest from April to October.

Compact and low growing, this plant quickly spreads to fill any available space. Cold hardy in zones 4-8, harvest this plant’s large strawberries when they are completely ripe–red all over with no white spaces. The fruit can be eaten freshly picked, frozen, or canned.

Seascape Strawberry Plant Care

Plant Seascape Strawberry Plant in early spring in an area that gets 8 hours of full sun and has rich, sandy, slightly acidic, well-draining soil. Amend your soil with sand/peat moss/coco coir if drainage is lacking. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart. Apply a few inches of straw mulch around the base of this perennial to prevent water loss. Trim the first set of flowers to encourage additional growth and a better crop next season. Prune dead, damaged, or diseased foliage from spring until fall. Plant maintenance will be higher until Seascape Strawberry Plant becomes established.

Growing Seascape Strawberry Plant

Growing to a maximum height of 6 to 8 inches and spread of 12 to 18 inches, you can allow Seascape Strawberry Plant to fill in an entire bed as it spreads, or grow it in rows spaced approximately 12 inches apart. If grown inside, provide this perennial with grow lights.

Seascape Strawberry Plant can be grown in a garden or in a container on a deck, porch, or patio. If grown in a container, choose a pot that is 11 to 15 inches wide and at least 12 inches deep. Whether grown in a bed or container, you can add good companion plants such as alyssum, coneflowers, and spinach if you like.

Watering Seascape Strawberry Plant

Working hard all spring, summer, and fall, Seascape Strawberry Plant needs anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of water per week. This plant does not tolerate standing water and requires a moisture check prior to watering. Only water if the top 1 to 2 inches of soil are dry.

Feeding Seascape Strawberry Plant

Apply a general-purpose, balanced (10-10-10) fertilizer in the spring, and continue feeding monthly during the summer.
