Mature Height

Mature Spread
Get the height, dark green foliage, and pollinator-friendly blooms without the negatives of a typical cleome of high maintenance, thorns, sticky sap, smell or prolific seedlings! Señorita Rosalita® makes growing Cleome easy with sterile pink flowers that won’t infiltrate your garden with prolific seedlings. Instead, you get to enjoy the prolific bloom that invites bees, butterflies and birds to your garden. This thornless variety is covered in pink flowers that are smaller than classic Cleome. You’ll notice more blooms per stem, as well.
The tall, upright and dark green stems of Señorita Rosalita® can grow over 4’ high! This stately beauty adds architectural interest and height to landscapes and large planters, a task most annuals aren’t up to. Use the Señorita Rosalita® Spider Flower as a show-stopping “thriller” in large containers to enjoy their pollinator attraction up close. Or plant at the back of landscape beds to add depth and height.
Señorita Rosalita® Spider Flower Care
Celomes love the sun and Señorita Rosalita® is heat tolerant. Plant them in a location that gets 6 or more hours of sunlight per day. An annual application of compost or well-balanced fertilizer on garden beds will keep your flowers thriving through the season. Regular fertilization of containers ensures continued vigor. Keep containers evenly watered by watering only when the top inch of soil is dry. No deadheading is necessary.
Gardeners in Southern Florida have reported their Señorita Rosalita® spider flowers being attacked by the Cabbage Budworm (Hellula phidilealis). This is a type of moth caterpillar that bores into the stem and causes the tip of the Cleome to wilt and die. If you live in the southern United States and notice the tell-tale sign of the stem borer, you can easily control the problem with DiPel. DiPel is a natural bacterium that is harmless to pets and humans. The worm ingests it and then the bacterium eats the worm. Dust the plant monthly to keep the stem borer at bay.
Señorita Rosalita® Spider Flower Spacing
Señorita Rosalita® Spider Flowers are large plants that can grow over 4’ tall and 2’ wide. They do best in large containers (10”+ wide) or in garden beds. Plant them up to 18” apart in the garden, and 8-10” apart in containers.
