What does this mean?
This shows how the plant is typically used in a container combo — Thriller (tall focal point), Filler (mid-height mass), or Spiller (trailing over the edge).
Tip: match plant habit to the role for the best designs.
Silver River™ Didelta holds its silver color through brutal heat when other plants fade. It forms a low, mounded spread of velvety foliage that glows against darker greens and bold blooms. It reaches just 8 to 12 inches tall and spreads up to 24 inches, creating a dense, textural layer that never looks thirsty. Unlike many annual fillers, it does not collapse in midsummer or demand constant trimming.
This semi-succulent annual is grown for foliage, not flowers, and that is its strength. The soft silver leaves reflect sunlight and cool down intense color palettes. Heat tolerance and drought resilience make it especially useful in water-wise landscapes and exposed patios. It performs as a spreading ground layer in sunny beds and shines in hanging baskets where its stems soften the rim. We rely on it when a container needs structure and contrast without extra work.
Silver River™ Didelta Care
Plant in full sun where it receives at least six hours of direct light daily. Use sharply drained soil, particularly in containers, and avoid sites that remain wet after rain. Water thoroughly, then wait until the soil surface feels dry before watering again. Excess moisture weakens the plant far more quickly than drought. Fertilizer is rarely needed; overly rich soil can reduce the compact habit.
If stems stretch late in the season, shear lightly with clean snips to refresh growth. In frost-free zones (8–11), it may persist as a short-lived perennial. Elsewhere, treat it as a summer annual.
Silver River™ Didelta Spacing
Space plants 10 to 14 inches apart in landscape beds for a solid silver mat. In containers, one plant fills a 12–14 inch pot, while three create a lush combination in a 20-inch planter. For container planting, combine with Art & Sol™ Mangave as the focal point and Luscious® Lantana for saturated bloom color. In landscape design, let it edge a drift of heat-loving pentas (Egyptian Star Flower) or thread between upright agave to highlight their sculptural form without competing for water.
